9/11 Remembrance

Tommorrow marks 24 years since the terrorist attacks on 9/11. On that day 2977 innocent victims were killed by 19 terrorists using commercial airliners as weapons. That number includes 343 members of the FNDY ( New York City Fire Department), 1 member of the New York Fire Patrol 2, and 72 law enforcement officers from various agencies.
Since that day, more that 400 more members of FDNY have died from illnesses related to the toxins they were exposed to working to recover those lost that day. Many more from other departments have been lost as well.
On this day, please take a moment to rember all those who fell in the attacks, and think for a second about those who were rushing in to buildings that were not only burning, but that had been just been struck by airplanes, all to try to save their fellow Americans.
For many of us, we will never forget where we were, and what we were doing when we heard the news of the attacks. It truly was the Pearl Harbor of our generation. Many events will take place to honor those who fell, such as rememberances, stair climbs that recall the long march upward in the towers that the firefighters made that day, and many more personal moments. Please take part in whatever fits for you, but let us resolve to Never Forget!
